Özet:

Today, with the development of technology, the diversity of social media tools is increasing considerably. With social media tools, individuals have the opportunity to share their ideas and thoughts, thus becoming visible and influencing other people. X Twitter, on the other hand, stands out among these social media tools with its ability to send instant messages and appeal to a large number of audiences. In this study, the tweets of political leaders about the Hamas-Israel conflict, which started on October 07, 2023 when Hamas attacked Israel from the southern borders of Israel, were examined with the content analysis technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, and it was aimed to reveal the attitudes of world political leaders about this war. In this context, the tweets between October 07 and November 07, 2023, the first period of the war, were analyzed. A total of 187 tweets, including 73 tweets by the President of the United States of America Joe Biden, 29 tweets by the President of France Emmanuel Macron, 24 tweets by the Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, 38 tweets by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak, 18 tweets by the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and 5 tweets by the Emir of Qatar Temim Bin Hamed Es-Sani, were separated and analyzed. The MAXQDA 2020 package program was used for the analysis and as a result, it was observed that political leaders tweeted in accordance with their existing cooperation and political strategies in the early stages of the war, while they exhibited pro-peace attitudes over time. However, it was determined that Hamas does not represent the Palestinian people, that the war has devastating consequences for both sides and that there is an agreement that civilians should not be harmed by this situation, and that all leaders are working diligently on humanitarian aid. It is thought that the study will contribute to the field by analyzing the content of political leaders tweets about the related war.
