Özet:

The modernization efforts that began in Turkey after the establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923 set an example for the neighboring countries. After a period of tense relations between Turkey and Iran, the visit of the Iranian Shah Reza Pahlavi to Turkey led to the strengthening of friendship between the two countries. After coming to power in Iran, Pahlavi sought to emulateMustafa Kemal Atatürk and the new republican regime he established in Turkey, aiming to establish a modern regime in Iran similar to that of Turkey. In this respect, Pahlavis visit enabled him to witness Turkeys progress closely, and Turkey saw this visit as an opportunity to improve trade relations. This study examines the reflections of Reza Pahlavis visit to Turkey, which took place from June 10, 1934, to July 6, 1934, as reported in the Akşam newspaper.. The 108 news articles about Pahlavis visit in the relevant issues of Akşam newspaper were analyzed by content analysis method. As a result of the study, it is seen that Akşam newspaper paid significant attention in Pahlavis visit, reflecting the importance the government attached to it, and highlighted its rolein reinforcing the friendship between the two countries. In addition, it was determined that this visit had a strategic importance beyond being an ordinary visit and achieved its purpose in terms of advancing commercial activities.
