Özet:

Modeling small objects has an important place in terms of cultural heritage. In the early days, the data required for 3D map production was gathering with total stations and tape measures. It was limited in its application area. With technological developments, todays 3D measurement technologies have automated the collection of data required for 3D map production. One of the most used of these techniques recently is the terrestrial laser scanning technique. Laser scanners in 3D modeling can be divided into three categories depending on the scanning environment. These are airborne laser scanning, mobile laser scanning and terrestrial laser scanning. One of the methods recently used in modeling small-sized artifacts in the cultural heritage is the hand-held laser scanning method included in the mobile laser scanning. In this study, modeling of small-sized household figurines and vase objects with laser scanning method and taking measurements from the resulting model are explained. The resulting models did not yield sufficient point cloud density due to the color intensities on the object surfaces, operator errors and limitations of the scanner. Measurements were measured and checked with an electronic caliper. Since the measurements taken on it cannot be clearly distinguished, the measurement values are not considered suitable for precise studies. In this study, two small-sized objects were modeled with a hand-held laser scanning technique and the lengths were measured on the model. The accuracy of the measurement was made with an electronic caliper. It has been concluded that the system is insufficient in creating dense point clouds and has insufficient ability to distinguish details and complex surfaces.
