Özet:

An increasing number of local governments worldwide are adopting gender equality and intersectionality in their policies and actions, in line with the implementation of global anti-discrimination standards derived from human rights treaties and conventions. One of these texts is the European Charter for Equality of Women and Men in Local Life. Fifty-seven municipalities in Türkiye have signed the Charter. This research analyses how these municipalities address the issue of migrant women in terms of social equality. In the context of gender equality and intersectionality theory, how womens role and status in the urban environment are addressed at the local level is evaluated in light of the results obtained from the content analysis of local equality action plans. In conclusion, the findings emphasize the importance and fundamental nature of integrating an intersectional approach into action plans to achieve overall equality at the local level.
