Özet:

Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the waist-hip ratios of university students according to age and gender. Method: A total of 80 volunteers 31 women, 49 men with an average age of 20 studying in Çanakkale participated in the study. The ages of the individuals participating in the study were taken, and their weight, height, body mass index and waist-hip ratio data were collected with the bioelectric impedance inbody 270 device. The data obtained from the measurements made within the scope of the research were analyzed by correlation and t-test. Results: The average waist-hip ratio of women was found to be 0.860.05, the average BMI was 20.694.04 kgm2, the average weight was 5511kg, and the average height was 1635cm. The average waist-hip ratio of men was determined as 0.840.07, the average BMI was 235.4kgm2, the average weight was 7320kg, and the average height was 1786cm. No relationship could be detected between the participants waist-hip ratio and age. Additionally, there was no statistically significant difference between the waist-hip ratio between men and women p0.05. Conclusion: As a result, the waisthip ratios and body mass index data of the individuals participating in the study were found to be close to each other, and according to the World Health Organization data, their health risks were determined to be at a medium level.
