Özet:

Religion is one of the leading institutions that fulfill the need to believe or worship something in the journey of human beings on discovering their existence. Each and every religion has its own specially built structures. Architectural structures like temples, monasteries, churches, basilica, cathedrals, synagogues, mosques have also formed their typologies over time. Even though there are opinions on the point that these typologies developed with the construction techniques of the age drift apart today from the religion philosophy, it is also seen that this tradition has not been broken. This study focuses on a small mosque, one of the prayer places in our country. The selected building is the Small Mosque structure in the garden of Balıklı Rum Hospital. For this purpose, there has been a contact with MEDAC Company, which carried out the projects, designs, and applications of the building, and a field trip was made with the architect İlhami Kurt, the owner of the company. The purpose of the study is to throw light upon how religious buildings can be interpreted with the construction techniques of the age, instead of the traditional construction techniques, that have become typology over time, of the sense of humility and purification that lies beneath the essence of the religion philosophy. For this purpose, the location of the building, construction technique, its form, plan layout, site organization, material used, use of light, lighting scheme, heating and ventilation, and air conditioning features, detail production, outfit design, and decorations were inspected and assessed. Nonetheless, as the interventions made at the outfit level have been observed since the year it was put into service, a section related to this has been added. For the assessments of the building, apart from the photographs taken during the field trip, the photographs that were taken in the year it was put into service were used to lay the change bare. The study, in this manner, also emphasizes the continuity of the form created in architecture and the design philosophy that generates this form in the interior.
