Özet:

Culture means people living in communities; all kinds of practices, ceremonies, customs, art, language, thought, belief and lifestyle etc. means the whole of the elements. Culture has been passed down from generation to generation and has survived to the present day. These elements in the structure of the society we live in are used, but the reason why such an application is made is usually not investigated. Belief, one of these cultural elements, is more common among the people and is resistant to being forgotten. Beliefs are practices formed from the traditions and customs of a society. These beliefs are used in curing diseases, making it rain, traveling for a job, etc. observed in various fields. Man, by nature, has been intertwined with the land and nature. Rain prayers are arranged for abundance and fertility. The rain ceremonies in the AksarayYenikent region are an example of this situation. In these ceremonies, animals have taken their place in these practices due to some of the characteristics imposed by the society. The frog is one of these animals. The frog has been used in folk medicine. It is also possible to come across frogs in many ceremonies related to fire and water. In this respect, it was believed that frogs, which are believed to be the representatives of fire and the moon, carry a holy spirit. It is also seen as a or stone in rain-making ceremonies. The equestrian-nomadic lifestyle of the Turks paved the way for animals to be an effective element in their economic and social lives. For this reason, animal cult has gained a great place in Turkish society and continues its effects today. In this study, frog; folk medicine, rain prayers, curing diseases, the holy spirit it carries, the or stone, the relationship with the moon, sun and fire have been examined with a cult-centered perspective.
