Özet:

During the Cold War period, established under the hegemony of the United States, the U.S. targeted the collapse of the Soviet Union in collaboration with European countries. From the early 1970s, the United States, aligning with China against the Soviets, integrated China into the global system and, together with European countries, succeeded in the disintegration of the Soviet Union. In both the bipolar world order and the unipolar U.S.-dominated world that emerged from the early 1990s, the United States and its allies including Europe, Japan, and China enjoyed a relatively prosperous and harmonious existence until the early 2000s. By the first quarter of the 21st century, it has become apparent that the hegemonic power of the United States is waning, and concomitantly, numerous power centers, notably China, have emerged. The world is now entrenched in a complex multipolar international relations landscape, with the previous bipolar andor unipolar order in disarray. The United States and its allies are no longer in a win-win situation but are instead facing a lose-lose scenario. As China rises in parallel to the intensifying U.S.-China rivalry, Europes economy is weakened by the Russia-Ukraine war. The indifference of Western leaders to the massacres in Gaza, contrasted with their intense focus on the war in Ukraine, has led to questioning of Western values and initiated their decline. The world has entered a severe crisis, one that is pregnant with significant transformation and change. There exists a substantial power vacuum in the world, within which deep-seated issues are intertwined with this crisis. These issues include global warming, climate change, environmental problems, energy security, food, water, migration, cyber-attacks, artificial intelligence, misinformation, increasing inequality, and the collapse of justice. As global problems increase, so do questioning and resistance to the system. Consequently, the world is on the brink of numerous regional and global crises, any one of which could be powerful enough to trigger a Third World War. The primary focus of this study is to investigate the potential for a Third World War stemming from small sparks in various global regions such as Taiwan, North Korea, the Kuril Islands, Kashmir, Karabakh, the Zangezur Corridor, the Arctic Region, the Suez Canal, and the Straits of Hormuz and Bab-el-Mandeb. Additionally, the study aims to analyze the process leading to a large-scale world war through regional and global disputed areas described as frozen conflict zones, which suffer from sovereignty vacuums. The conclusion drawn from this study emphasizes that the crises in these disputed areas with sovereignty vacuums, along with the ongoing U.S.-China rivalry, signify that the signs of a Third World War are already audible.
