Özet:

There are many types of fortune telling that arise as a result of mans interest in the unseen the unknown and his desire to reach it. This desireinterest in the unknown has usually been tried to be supported by religious arguments based on any belief. Even though it is forbidden in the Quran in Surah al-Maida, verse 90, describing it as a filth of the devils work, those who are engaged in it and those who are inclined to it have not given up fortune-telling by interpreting certain hadiths in a way that gives them a basis. In fact, they did not hesitate to use the Quran al-Naml 65, which states that only Allah knows the unseen, as a fortune-telling tool. In addition to the Quran, the names of prophets, Ahl al-Bayt, Companions and religious elders were also used as fortune-telling material. In this type of fortune telling, which is mostly done by drawing a name with intention from a table consisting of the names of prophets, a relationship is usually established between the life and known characteristics of the name in question and the intention of the fortune teller. In this study, a fortune-telling text in the work Mecmûa-i Cifr ve Reml 6b-20b, registered in Erzurum Provincial Public Library number 25 HK 2138, which utilizes the names of religious elders in foretelling the future, will be published and this text will be positioned where it belongs in the fortune-telling literature. In this way, the meaningvalue that people attribute to fortune telling will once again be revealed.
