Özet:

The Westernization movement that began in the Ottoman Empire in the 18th century also had an impact on music, and the music note publishing houses that emerged in the last quarter of the 19th century were one of the observable results of this influence. In this article, the music publishing houses that published using Western musical note, from Notacı Hacı Emin Efendi, which started operating in 1876, to Jorj D. Papajorjiu Publications, which existed in the early years of the Republic, were examined in the context of Westernization. In this study, which was conducted specifically on Jorj D. Papajorjiu Publications, it was intended to create comprehensive information for this publishing house. Jorj D. Papajorjiu Publications, a publishing house that started its operations after the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye, is described as the last private musical note publishing house of the Republic period. The methods translated and published into Turkish by this publishing house are valuable resources for the music and guitar playing culture of Türkiye in the 1930s and 1940s. In this context, in the article, the guitar methods published by Jorj D. Papajorjiu Publications were examined using the document analysis method; in this way the similarities and the differences between these guitar methods were revealed. The findings obtained were evaluated in the conclusion section and presented to the field.
