Özet:

Surgery is the science that expresses the diseases and wounds in the human body, the types of these diseases, heals the diseased organs by drug treatment or excision, and includes information about all kinds of medicines, tools and equipment in this way. The beginning of surgical diseases dates back to ancient times. People intervened to treat wounds and stop bleeding. There are many records of these transactions in documents belonging to the Mesopotamians and Egyptians. These records show that the history of surgery dates back to very old times. The surgical interventions that came to the fore during the Prophets period were cupping, cauterization, wound treatments, dental treatments, removal of some small tumors, and male and female circumcision. Although the names of these attempts are frequently mentioned in the sources, there are not many details about the way they were made and the tools used. It is seen that there are people who perform these interventions and are experts in their field, and these procedures are common in society. Treatment with the cupping method was frequently applied during the time of the Prophet Muhammad, and it became a highly respected treatment because he personally had cupping done and recommended it to his companions. The Messenger of Allah used to have his blood drawn whenever he was ill. On one occasion, he went to Mecca and fell ill while he was in ihram and immediately had a bloodletting. Usually performed with a horn and a razor blade, it was performed in the neck, near the jugular vein, between the two shoulder blades, in the middle and back of the head, and on the shoulder. Cauterization was a surgical procedure used in many diseases such as headaches, oral and dental complaints, nose, ear and eye diseases, epilepsy and paralysis. Hot iron is the most commonly used cauterizing tool. In the early period of Islam, the most common health problem due to wars was injuries. Women participated in the war and took care and treatment of the wounds that occurred during it. Therefore, women were predominantly involved in wound treatment and care. Another important invasive procedure is circumcision. Circumcision performed on boys and girls requires expertise as it is a painful and bleeding procedure.

Resûlullah her hastalandığında kan aldırmaktaydı.
