Özet:

Personality and music, as well as self and music-related researches, are addressed within the framework of Musicology studies and in the context of Music Psychology. Given that the concepts of personality and self encompass both individual and social dimensions, and reflect an individuals emotional, cognitive, and aesthetic world, they are considered to hold significant importance for musicological research aimed at understanding music and all related processes. Accordingly, this study aims to provide researchers with a perspective by examining scientific publications conducted in the aforementioned context within our country. This study is a descriptive qualitative research based on the content analysis of publications in the literature. Data were collected using document analysis. The collected data were analyzed through content analysis. The data obtained through content analysis were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods, specifically frequency and percentage calculations, within Microsoft Excel. While determining the distribution of publications in relation to their associated topics, concepts of personality, and concepts of self, the total frequency of codes was found to differ from the total number of publications included in the study 64 due to the possibility of coding studies with multiple codes. Themes were created during the analysis process and presented in tables. In terms of topic distribution, mood, academic achievement, music preferencesmusic appreciation, and elements of social development have emerged as prominent aspects. Regarding concepts related to music, music education and instruments stand out; concerning concepts related to personality, the Big Five Personality Traits take precedence; and in terms of self-related concepts, Self-Esteem has been a notable focus.
