Özet:

The places where traditional culture and lifestyle are maintained and kept alive for generations are mostly rural areas where communication and interaction with the environment is limited. In the 19th century Ottoman geography of rural eastern Anatolia, women were active in social life and production. Since living conditions do not allow for isolation, women are always visible in social life and their differences with men are minimal level. Women, who are valued and cared for, have relative freedom of movement in social life. It is a tradition not to harm women in inter-tribal conflicts. Working and producing women wear out quickly in the harsh difficulties of life. Family preference is at the forefront in the choice of spouse, marriages between relatives are popular and divorce is rare. The marriage, clothing and ornaments of women in the East reflect the originality of traditional culture. There are many similarities between women of different ethnicities and beliefs. However, there are also some important differences between them according to religious requirements and whether they are sedentary or nomadic. In this article, information about women in the eastern rural areas of Anatolia in the 19th century is given and and evaluation has been tried to be made regarding these.
