Özet:

Global climate change and environmental degradation have made the evaluation of the tourism sector from a green economy perspective important for the sustainability of the sector. The aim of this study is to analyse Azerbaijan tourism within the framework of green economy and sustainability. In addition, the contribution of Azerbaijans tourism sector to GDP, its impact on employment and its sustainable development potential will be analysed. In the study, data were obtained from secondary sources through literature review. In addition, a SWOT analysis was conducted to analyse the current situation in relation to the subject. According to the results of the literature review and SWOT analsın, although Azerbaijan has rich natural resources and tourism potential, it has weaknesses such as lack of infrastructure, investment, promotion and environmental awareness in the fields of green economy and sustainable tourism. However, there are opportunities to invest in renewable energy resources, to evaluate the tourism potential of recovered regions, to develop international cooperation, digitalisation and green economy practices. In addition, threats from climate change, natural disasters, regional instability and sustainable tourism failures should not be ignored. The results of the analysis in the study are expected to contribute to the formulation of policy recommendations for the development and sustainability of Azerbaijans tourism sector.
