Migration is a case that is as old as history of humanity. Migration movements it has always effected individuals and communities. Migration, in other words change of location, has been mostly investigated by the disciplines of psychology and sociology. Migrations have continuously shaped the populations, socio-culturel structures and economical conditions of settlements from past to present. Undoubtedly, the person who experiences the migration and named as migrant deeply feels the psycological and social effects of it. The reasons, the place of the migraiton, the time to spend there, the feelings during the migration, the remainings in the abandoned place, adaptation process to the new place and experiences it is considerably important for the psychological wellbeings of the individuals named as “migrants”. Because of the migration, individuals may experience a critical period, may not be able to have satisfying social interactions because of the probable social isolation, and may not be aware of the facilities of the new environment. The event of migration and the feelings in the new environment may cause a crisis for the migrants. Crisis is a situation that normal people experience. However, an individual that gets through a crisis cannot think appropriately and make a true decision. For this reason, the intervention to the individual who gets through a crisis and the psychological support are highly important. When the intervention and the psychological support is late, the crisis turns into a psychopathology. This situation causes to loss of time and money. In this survey that includes a sophisticated examination of the case of migration it is put emphasis on respectively; various definitions of “migration”, its types and features, its effects on psychology and health, some approaches related to migration, crisis intervention and in case of cronic crisis psychological counselling is required to the migrants who experience a crisis.
