Özet:

The subject of this interdisciplinary study, carried out within the framework of translation studies and philosophy, is Walter Benjamins work, Die Aufgabe des Überzetsers The Task of the Translator, in which he reveals his understanding of translation. In our study, the content of the work in question has been analyzed and evaluated in detail. In line with the analysis and evaluation outputs, it is aimed to contribute to Benjamins reader in terms of reception and intensive interpretation of the text. In line with this purpose, in the first part of our study, a general framework regarding Benjamins work above was put forward; in the second part, the contextual plan of the text was created in general with the help of the table prepared, and in the last part, the main sub-topics expressed in the prepared table were analyzed and evaluated in line with the purpose of our study. The basic building blocks of the understanding of translation that Benjamin puts forth in his work and the task he assigns to the translator can be expressed as follows: Benjamin does not see translation as an act of transmissiondeclaration but considers it a form. According to him, the original text continues by gaining a new form through translation. On the other hand, beyond being an intertextual phenomenon, translation is about the internal relationship and connection between languages. In this respect, through the act of translation, there is an orientation to the language that Benjamin describes as pure language or real language. In this context, the task of the translator is expressed as to liberate the pure language under the influence of another language in its own language.
