Özet:

The main purpose of this study is to contribute to the literature by determining the general characteristics of postgraduate thesis studies on metaverse through bibliometric analysis method. In this respect, thesis studies obtained from Yöktez Higher Education Institution Thesis Centre database were analysed bibliometrically according to various parameters. This study focuses on the distribution of postgraduate theses according to their academic levels, authors, supervisor titles, titles, publication languages, subjects, indexes, chapter titles, keywords, publication years, universities, provinces, institutes, main disciplines, access status, page numbers, model and sample. The research results were analysed in IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0 package programme and word cloud. Frequency and percentage analyses were made with the data obtained. A total of 42 postgraduate theses, 34 masters theses, 4 doctoral theses, 3 proficiency in art and 1 speciality in medicine, were reached through the advanced search of Yöktez database using the metaverse variable. Within the scope of the research, it was determined that metaverse aroused more curiosity in masters theses and metaverse technology was mostly associated with digitalisation and virtual world in thesis studies. Therefore, all these situations have revealed that the metaverse has been an interesting topic in recent years. At the same time, it has been determined that there are deficiencies in the literature where metaverse technology is not sufficiently addressed quantitatively. The most obvious conclusion from this study is that metaverse technology is an interdisciplinary subject of study.
