Özet:

When deciding where to use the wood of a tree, attention should be paid to important wood properties such as surface color, texture, and smell, as well as physical, chemical, and mechanical properties. Those with high mechanical performance are preferred for load-bearing applications and those that give an aesthetically pleasing appearance are preferred for interior decoration. This study investigated some physical density, tangential, radial, and longitudinal swelling, some chemical extractive, hemicellulose, holocellulose, and alphacellulose and mechanical properties bending strength, modulus of elasticity, screw holding capacity, static hardness of a wood species called Lemon cypress Cupressus macrocarpa Goldcrest due to its wood odor. As a result of the tests, average values of 439 kgm3 oven-dried density, 6,1 tangential swelling, 4,4 radial swelling and 0,3 longitudinal swelling, 10,8 volumetric swelling, 24,7 fiber saturation point and 103 water absorption after water soaking were obtained from physical properties. Bending resistance 61,3 2 Nmm2, modulus of elasticity 6189 Nmm2, average values were obtained. The average values of static hardness on the tangential, radial, and transverse surfaces were 27.6, 25.7, and 48.7, and screw holding capacity values were 20.7, 17.1, and 15.1 respectively. Chemical analysis showed that the holocellulose of the wood was 69.36, alphacellulose was 41.61, hemicellulose content was 27.75 and extractive matter content was 3.41. Based on the data obtained from the tests, the highest screw-holding capacity was determined on the tangential surface and the static hardness value was determined in the transverse surface.
