Özet:

Partner phubbing, characterized by individuals focusing on their smartphones during interactions with their romantic partners, has the potential to negatively impact romantic relationships. This study aims to explore the mediating role of self-disclosure in romantic relationships between partner phubbing and perceived romantic relationship quality. Employing a cross-sectional and descriptive design, the study utilized a convenience sampling method to gather data from 564 participants 375 women and 189 men with an average age of 32, all of whom were in romantic relationships. Data were collected using the Partner Phubbing Scale, Self-Disclosure in Romantic Relationships Scale, Perceived Romantic Relationship Quality Scale and a Demographic Information Form. The relationships between variables were analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis, and mediation analyses were conducted using Process Macro-Model 4. Findings revealed significant negative relationships between partner phubbing, self-disclosure, and perceived romantic relationship quality, while a positive relationship was found between self-disclosure and perceived romantic relationship quality. Furthermore, perceived romantic relationship quality fully mediated the relationship between partner phubbing and self-disclosure. The results of the study were interpreted in the context of the existing literature, and implications for future research were proposed.
