Özet:

TURKEY-ISRAEL EDUCATION AND CULTURAL RELATIONS SINCE ISRAELS FOUNDATION TILL THE 2000S 1948-2001 Abstract Turkish-Israeli relations did not have any chance to develop due to the diplomatic crises between the two countries from May 14, 1948, when the State of Israel was established, until the early 1990s. This situation is closely related to the Arab-Israeli conflicts, which became violent with the establishment of Israel. Turkey has not had the opportunity to develop its bilateral relations with Israel due to the reactions from the Arabs, and has experienced some diplomatic crises with Israel from time to time. Turkeys failure to develop its political relations with Israel has directly affected the educational and cultural relations between the two countries. In this study, the educational and cultural relations between Turkey and Israel were examined under two headings: from the foundation of Israel to the end of the Cold War 1948-1990 and from the end of the Cold War to the early 2000s 1990-2001. The main sources used in this historical document review research are the studies conducted in Turkey. As a result of the research in which content analysis was used, it was seen that Turkey-Israel education and cultural relations could develop to a limited extent thanks to the contributions of Turkish Jews after the foundation of Israel until the 1990s, and that education and cultural relations entered an unusual development process in the 1990s after diplomatic representation between the two countries rised to the level of embassy. Keywords: Turkey-Israel relations, Diplomacy, Education, Culture. Jel Codes: J1, J2, J3.
