Özet:

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between spirituality and distress tolerance levels among young adults between the ages of 18-35. Ethical approval for the conduct of the research was obtained from the Atatürk University Social and Human Sciences Ethics Committee dated 27.11.2023 and numbered E-88656144-000-2300378465. Relational survey and descriptive survey methods from quantitative research methods were used in the study. The sample consisted of 427 participants, including 247 women 57.8 and 180 men 42.2, who were selected using a random sampling technique. Data were collected using the Spirituality and Distress Tolerance Scale. The data collected were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 27 program. According to the result of the T-Test, ANOVA, and Kruskal Wallis analysis, spirituality differed in terms of sociodemographic variables of gender and marital status; while distress tolerance differed significantly only in terms of education level variable. The correlation analysis indicated a positive relationship between spirituality and distress tolerance. A review of the local literature revealed that spirituality has not been addressed in the context of distress tolerance, suggesting that this study may contribute to the existing body of knowledge. At the same time, this research is important in terms of providing data for other possible studies to be conducted with young adults. In light of the findings of the research, it has been suggested to develop a spiritually focused intervention program to help young adults better manage challenging life situations by increasing their spirituality levels.
