Özet:

With the spread of the internet, drivers and customers have been matched through websites and applications and this situation has led to the emergence of different relationships compared to the traditional employee-employer relationships. This new working style is called the platform work or gig economy and is exemplified by companies like Deliveroo and Uber. This relationship exceeds the boundaries of a typical employment contract because of the erosion of the dependency element, the core element of the employment contract. This raises the question of whether a new status is emerging for drivers. The current legal framework in our country has been found inadequate to address modern necessities. However, the United Kingdom, which encompasses different statuses employeeworkerself-employed in its legislative framework, has recent court decisions regarding the legal status of platform drivers. This study aims to express the deficiency in our country within the framework of comparative law principles with current court decisions in the United Kingdom.
