Özet:

Ziya Gökalp was an important thinker who had carried out many scientific and cultural studies on behalf of Turkish society. His versatility prevents him from being described with a single identity. Gökalp was the sociologist who founded the first chair of sociology in Türkiye. He was an intellectual who had produced thoughts on behalf of saving the state during the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. He was a theoretician who had put forward important views that will guide the state and society in the establishment of the State of the Republic of Türkiye. He had tried to solve the identity problem that emerged with the transition from empire to nation-state, and offered ideas on how the state should approach fields and branches such as economy, language, religion, law, morality, art and literature. He was a poet who had written many poems. Gökalp not only theorized but also took action to put his theories into practice. In this context, he was an activist and political figure who was the intellectual leader of the Halk Fırkası and elected member of parliament. He was one of the names that shaped Mustafa Kemal Atatürks ideas. Mustafa Kemals statement, Ali Rıza Efendi is the father of my body, Namık Kemal is the father of my feelings, and Ziya Gökalp is the father of my ideas explains the importance of Gökalps ideas for the Republican regime. In addition, Gökalp was an ideologue who had reviewed himself and his views according to changing conditions and had finally decided on the concept of Turkism. In this study, we will seek an answer to the question Which Gökalp? in order to reveal which identity dominates Ziya Gökalp, who has many identities.
