Özet:

Türkiye is located in the Alpine-Himalayan earthquake zone. In the areas called the North Anatolian Fault, the East Anatolian Fault and the West Anatolian Graben Region, many earthquakes occur today as in the past. Earthquakes on these fault lines have caused great destruction and human losses. One of these earthquakes occurred in 1903 in and around Malazgirt. The earthquake caused thousands of people to lose their lives and caused great destruction in and around the center of Malazgirt. So much so that even the ruins of the ancient walls of Malazgirt were completely destroyed. The devastation and losses caused by the earthquake were also reflected in the reports of British consuls Frederick G. Freeman and W. J. Heathcote and American missionary Dr. Underwood. The consuls and missionaries also visited the earthquake zone and made investigations. They were met with the provincial administrators and closely followed the developments. They distributed the aid allocated to them from various foreign sources to the earthquake victims. As a matter of fact, this study focuses on the reflections of the 1903 Malazgirt earthquake on British documents. In addition to the observations and evaluations of the consuls and missionaries about the earthquake region, the relief activities in the region are also analyzed.
