Özet:

Blueberry Vaccinium corymbosum L. is one of the fruits whose production has increased rapidly worldwide in recent years due to its high nutritional value and increasing economic importance. In many countries, production, which is carried out with container gardens, is growing in parallel with the expansion of cultivation areas. However, blueberry production faces a few problems both on a global and local scale. In particular, the increasing effects of global warming threaten the production of this fruit by causing an increase in the variety and quantity of diseases and pests. This study analyses the results of a survey conducted with blueberry producers in Turkey and evaluates the current problems and solution proposals. According to the opinions of the surveyed producers, difficulties in the marketing of fresh products and the increase in diseases and pests constitute the biggest obstacles to cultivation. These problems both cause economic losses and negatively affect production efficiency. Producers state that in order to solve these problems, information and training activities should be increased, and breeding studies are needed to develop varieties resistant to diseases and pests. The results of the study show that studies should be intensified to increase the sustainability of blueberry cultivation in Turkey. This study sheds light on the main problems encountered in blueberry cultivation in Turkey and reveals that scientific and practical approaches should be developed to solve these problems. In this context, it is important to increase cooperation between public institutions, research centres and private sector.
