Özet:

The role of fatherhood has started to move beyond the traditional understanding and to be discussed further with the effect of social changes. Religion as an important resource that shapes family life, also has the potential of being determinant on the mens view of fatherhood and accordingly on their relationship with their children. This research aims to present an overview of studies that deal with the effect of religion on the role of fatherhood in todays world and to remark the gaps in the field. There are lots of studies about the relationship between fatherhood and religion in foreign literature, but it has been found out that in local literature the subject has been handled mostly within the context of the effects of parents religiousness on the children, and indirectly within the context of religiosity and this relationship has not been mentioned much. Due to the limited number of studies in local sources about the topic, mostly foreign sources have been utilized in this research. According to the results of research done based on the foreign sources, the effect of religion on fatherhood roles is an ignored subject and religious fathers in comparison to the less religious fathers, take care of their children more. As fathers have a significant impact on their childrens religious development just like in all other areas, a general overview of studies about fathers involvement in their childrens lives in relation to their religiosity will be presented by making a literature review.
