In order to solve the problems arising from the acceleration of global growth and the increase in the urban population, traditional urbanisation is abandoned and technological developments are applied in all areas of life in order to increase the living standards and service satisfaction of individuals. The realisation of these technological applications on the urban axis reveals the concept of smart city. Smart city is the ability to find solutions to problems by using technological opportunities to improve the quality of life of people and to realise development moves. In this context, smart city management appears as an innovative management. Boyd Cohens smart city components guide us on which features a smart city consists of. A city with smart people, smart transport, smart lifestyles, smart management and control mechanisms, smart environmental facilities and smart management principles is defined as a smart city. In this context, the study covers smart city applications in Balıkesir province. While conducting the research, a qualitative method was followed and the interpretative and descriptive element of the qualitative method was taken into consideration. In the study, firstly, the conceptual framework of the smart city concept is explained. Then, Cohens smart city components are explained and which of these components Balıkesir province covers is analysed in the findings section.
