Özet:

Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean. The settlement history of the island dates back to prehistory. The State of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus constitutes 35.04 of the island, and the Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus constitutes 59.56. The Island of Cyprus is located in a strategic position in the Eastern Mediterranean. In terms of geopolitics, the Island of Cyprus and in particular the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is an important country. Its geopolitical importance is increasing day by day due to its proximity to the worlds most chaotic Middle Eastern and African countries and the existence of newly discovered natural gas resources. The UN organizations efforts to unite the island as a single state in 2004 failed because the Greek side did not accept the referendum. In conclusion; the separation of the island of Cyprus with a green line under UN control, the non-recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by any country other than Türkiye, and the entry of the Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus into the European Union under the name of Republic of Cyprus, despite the disagreements between the two communities constitute the most important problems. The Republic of Türkiye, together with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, should pursue effective policies with both the UN organization and other international organizations in order to find solutions to these problems.
