Özet:

In this study, it is aimed to reveal thesocialstructuresandrelations in thenovel Yüzbaşı Gâvur Mümin, writtenby Erdoğan Baysal, throughformationalstructuralistcriticism. The problem of the study is what the social structures and relations in the novel are in political, economic, cultural and religious dimensions. In political analyses, during the occupation of Izmir, which is the subject of the novel, the existence of a policy of racism is emphasized at the basis of the occupation movement of the Greeks and their biggest supporters, the Western states, while it is stated that the main purpose of the Western states is not to invade but to destroy the Turkish nation. Based on the Turkish-Greek antagonism in the cultural and religious dimension, it is noteworthy that, on the one hand, the Turkish nation struggles against impossibilities for its independence, security of life, property and honor, and on the other hand, there is a Greek military force that thinks it has the right to commit all kinds of cruelty and injustice with the courage of being strong. While the morality, struggle, respect for people, and tolerance of the Turks were glorified, the Greeks addiction to alcohol and women, their greed for money, and their murder were negated. In the economic dimension, it has been stated that one of the main reasons for the war was to increase the wealth of bankers who traded in weapons and grain. During the occupation of Izmir, local Greeks; It is understood that while they live in luxury and entertainment, the majority of Turks have to live in poverty.
