Özet:

The defense industry plays a key role in enhancing a countrys defense capacity, representing its military and political power. The defense industry also contributes to economic development, supporting technological progress and securing long-term security Collins, 2001. Defense spending includes the financing of military equipment, personnel and operations and can affect a countrys economic growth. Especially in countries with high conflict risk, military expenditures are observed to increase economic growth. However, the impact of defense spending on economic growth in developing countries is more complex. As a developing country, Turkey has become an internationally recognized powerhouse in the defense industry. In particular, Turkish-made Unmanned Aerial Vehicle UAV technologies have played an important role in this success. Domestic and national projects such as Bayraktar TB2, Anka and Akıncı, and the National Combat Aircraft KAAN have gained an important place in the defense and export potential. In addition to domestic projects, the Turkish defense industry is also developing its capabilities by focusing on technology transfer and international cooperation. Defense technologies are also of great importance for the national economy. Domestic defense projects and technological advances create high value-added jobs and provide various employment opportunities. With the recent transformation, the Turkish defense industry has been reducing its imports and increasing its domestic production capacity. The aim of this paper is to reveal the political and economic impacts of Turkeys defense industry investments.
