Özet:

Deer have a very important place in Turkish culture and mythology. Deer tapestry is a type of tapestry widely used in Anatolia. Deer is considered a semi-divine being, a sacred guide, a symbol of abundance and fertility, a totem, and the embodiment of the Mother Goddess in the mythology of many ancient cultures. With this text, a multiple reading practice was carried out in order to reveal the meanings of Deer Tapestry in the collective psyche of Turkish Society. While the analysis of the symbols in the tapestry was carried out with the conceptual set of Jung and his school, a sociological analysis was used on the other hand. In line with Jungs theories, it was concluded that Deer Tapestry is a hybrid text located between conscious-unconscious, concrete space-abstract space, flowing time-stopped time, anima-animus, multiple religious and belief systems. In this form, the text acts as the glue that simultaneously contains the family, which is the cornerstone of a nation, and the elements that form it in terms of our collective psyche, and holds them together. This time, the existence of the Mother Goddess manifests itself in the Deer Tapestry in a timeless, spaceless and unconscious way.
