Özet:

The family names of every nation carry the imprint of history and register the names

of the geniuses in history.

In this way some of the Bulgarian family names give information about the past

and the present of the Bulgarian nation. Some family names and their formation still

keep their own features.

The article describes Bulgarian family names that have come from Turkish and

have gone through a lot of phonetic changes. The Bulgarian nation was under Ottoman

rule for a very long time, for that reason in Bulgarian there are still family names

which carry the characteristics of that time.
