Üniversite-Sanayi işbirliğinin geliştirilmesinde birçok etken vardır. Bu etkenler içerisinde Ortak Araştırma Merkezi kurulması yönündeki önerilerin neler olabileceğinin belirlenerek, kurulması yönünde bir model geliştirmenin amaçlandığı, bu çalışmada, Niğde Üniversitesi’nde görev yapan öğretim elemanları ve Niğde yöresi sanayi işletmeleri olarak belirlenen iki farklı ana kütleye uygulanan anket yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Üniversite-sanayi işbirliğinin geliştirilmesinde önemli bir etkileyici olan Niğde Bölgesi üniversite-sanayi Ortak Araştırma Merkezi’nin kurulması için yapılması gerekenleri açıklayan araştırma sonuçlarına göre tasarlanan modelde, (i) proje hazırlanması, (ii) plan hazırlanması, (iii) kuruluş konum yeri belirlenmesi, (iv) program oluşturulması, (v) üniversite ve sanayinin misyon-vizyon tanımında Ortak Araştırma Merkezi’ne yer verilmesi, (vi) taraflar arasında iletişimin güçlendirilmesi, (vii) farkındalık yaratılması, (viii) ortak iş yapış şekillerinin belirlenmesi, (ix) Ortak Araştırma Merkezi’nin tarafların öncelikli konuları arasında yer alması (x) üniversite-sanayi işbirliğinin güçlendirilmesi, öncelikli konular olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu modelde -ayrıca- Ortak Araştırma Merkezi’nin kurulması durumunda üniversiteye, sanayiye, Niğde Bölgesine ve üniversite-sanayi işbirliğinin güçlendirilmesine olabilecek olası katkılar ortaya konmuştur.
