Özet:

Turahan Begs name is also mentioned among the famous raider lords of the Ottoman Empire, who both provided border security and took the borders one step further with their conquests. Turahan Beg who known the son of Pasha Yigid Beg, had achieved great success so that his family is also known by his name. His name is mentioned for the first time in Ottoman sources together with Gazi Evrenos Beg, during the conquest of the Thessaly region. He first appeared on the stage of history during the reign of Yıldırım Bayezid Han and served the Ottoman Empire until his death in H. 860 1456. Just like other famous raider lords, Turahan Bey also spent his economic power in addition to his military successes for the lands he conquered. The raider lords, who turned their properties allocated to them as sword rights into foundations over time, became pioneers who contributed to the settlement and improvement of the newly conquered cities and their transformation into Turkish-Islamic cities with the soup kitchen sites they established. Although the foundation works of famous raider lords remain mostly in the Balkan land it is possible to come across works within the borders of Turkey such as the foundation complex of Turahan Bey, located in Kırkkavak Village of Edirnes Uzunköprü districts whose value we need to remind again. In this study, first of all, in the light of Byzantine and Ottoman sources the period when Turahan Beg appeared on the stage of history and his first military successes will be revealed, and then his waqf which he founded in Cisr-i Ergene Edirne-Uzunköprü-Kırkavak Village will be examinedand according to Ottoman archive records in 15th and 16th centuries and at last its current situation will be mentioned.
