Özet:

One of the first characteristics that comes to mind when talking about popular music is that it is a genre loved, appreciated, and consumed by a significant majority of a population. It is an undeniable truth that what makes a music product appealing to consumers is closely related to all the dynamics involved in its structure, as well as the consumers aesthetic perception of music. Additionally, features such as being catchy, easily understandable, and readily perceivable are other indicators of its popularity. Within the popular music of various local cultures around the world, or among globally popular music products, there are production-related similarities. From the perspective of the concept of time in music, it is not coincidental that music characterized by simple melodies, non-complex rhythms, and lyrics that are easy to memorize and catchy, if present, tends to be consumed more. This article discusses seven-beat rhythmic patterns in Turkish popular music, focusing on the structural aspects of these rhythms in the context of music production. The relationships with the seven-beat modes found in the theory of Turkish music have also been explored with examples, aiming to contribute to researchers working in this field.
