Özet:

It is evident that one of the most fundamental needs of contemporary societies is the cultivation of individuals who are scientifically productive and inquisitive, capable of critical thinking, effective communication, and collaboration. In this context, various recommendations emphasize the importance of fostering these competencies from an early age. This study aims to develop a valid and reliable assessment instrument to determine the extent to which these competencies-referred to as learning and innovation skills-are present in preschool children 4860 months. The developed assessment tool is designed as a holistic rubric, which enables trained raters teachers to observe and score preschool childrens responses within a structured session consisting of scientifically grounded tasks. The study sample comprises five preschool teachers who provided insights into field experiences for the development of rubric items, 12 academics who contributed expert evaluations to establish the content validity of the rubric, 60 children whose behaviors related to learning and innovation skills were observed during scientific tasks, and two independent raters who evaluated these children to determine inter-rater reliability. The content validity analysis, conducted using the Lawshe technique, resulted in an overall Scale Content Validity Index S-CVI of 0.84. Furthermore, the reliability analysis, performed using Cohens Kappa coefficient, yielded a reliability score of 0.879. These findings indicate that the developed Learning and Innovation 4C Skills scale constitutes a psychometrically sound instrument that can be utilized as a valid and reliable measure for assessing learning and innovation skills in preschool children 4860 months.
