Özet:

Social courage is seen as courageous behaviors that can damage the reputation of the individual in the eyes of others and harm the social relations within the organization. The social courage behaviors of individuals whose socialization environments are organizations threaten their friendships with other individuals. This situation creates the risk of loneliness of individuals. This study emerged on questions Does the social courage behaviors shown in the organization affect the loneliness of individuals?, What is the direction of a possible effect? and constructed on the basis of social identity theory. In the study, it was aimed to determine the effect of social courage behaviors in the workplace on the loneliness of individuals. In this empirically designed research, the relational survey model, one of the quantitative research designs, was preferred. Data were collected from 403 employees by survey method and analyzed through SPSS 29 and AMOS 24. As a result, it was determined that social courage behavior at work has a negative and statistically significant effect on emotional loneliness. Similarly, it has been determined that social courage behavior at work has a negative and statistically significant effect on social loneliness. Within the framework of these two findings, it is possible to say that social courage behavior at work has a negative and statistically significant effect on employees loneliness. In addition, it was concluded that employees perceptions of social courage behavior at work were high; the perceptions of loneliness in work life and emotional and social loneliness were at a low level. The findings are compatible with the claims of the social identity theory underlying the research. Considering that the literature on social courage is quite limited and the need for more research on the antecedents and consequences of social courage, it is thought that the study will contribute to the literature with its solid theoretical basis and create a basis for discussion for further studies. The results will also guide practitioners.
