Özet:

Developments in financial technologies affect the banking and finance sector today as in the past. Financial technologies can attract significant attention by offering products and services in line with the requirements of the age in a cheap and effective manner. While this interest is generally viewed positively, it requires careful monitoring by policymakers, as it may create alternatives in payment services and change and increase household spending habits, which may lead to inflationary pressure. The aim of this study is to analyse the effect of financial technological developments on inflation in Türkiye over the period 2012:Q1 to 2023:Q1. FinTech Index was constructed by using five distinct variables representing financial technological developments. The findings indicate that financial technological developments increase inflation in the long run in Türkiye. According to the Toda-Yamamoto causality test results, a bidirectional causality relationship was found between the variables.
