Özet:

The political rivalry between the descendants of Abbās, an uncle of Muḥammad, and the descendants of Alī, the son of Abū Ṭālib, within the Quraysh tribe, is not well known. The Abbāsids sought to legitimize their rule by tracing their lineage to Abbās. However, their rise to power led to conflict with the Alawites, descendants of Alī. This study examines the rivalry between the Abbāsids and Alawites after the Abbāsid overthrow of the Umayyads, focusing on how this conflict was reflected in Islamic religious texts. It explores how these disputes were addressed in commentaries, hadīths, specialized books, and sermons. The article highlights how the Abbāsids used historical and religious arguments to establish their legitimacy, aiming to reveal the impact of these conflicts on the Islamic worlds political, religious, and cultural development, and how religious material has been used in contemporary political and ideological disputes.
