Özet:

The nationalism that emerged under the influence of the French Revolution deeply shook the Ottoman Empire, and the associations defending Turkish nationalism against the separatist activities of the societies established by the minorities took action with the ideal of saving the state. As a matter of fact, the idea of nationalism was extremely effective in the victory of the War of Independence and the establishment of the Republic of Turkey. In the first years of the Republic, Turkish Hearths led Turkish nationalism, but when the Hearth was closed in 1931, nationalism remained virtually unorganized. This situation changed with the end of the single-party period and the Democratic Party becoming active in Turkeys political life. Many associations and media organs, taking advantage of the current environment of freedom, have started their activities. The Turkish Nationalists Association also took action in 1951 with the aim of gathering Turkish nationalists under one roof. As a matter of fact, it has achieved its goal in a short time and opened nearly eighty branches in almost all regions of Turkey. The Afyon branch is one of the most important of them. Although the association was closed at the beginning of 1953, it carried out many activities, and with the publication of the Türkeli magazine, the ideology of the association and its view on current issues were clearly revealed. So much so that the columns, poems and aphorisms published in the magazine are important in terms of understanding the problems in domestic and foreign politics that occupy Turkey. However, the nationalist communitys view of the mentioned events, their solution suggestions and their reactions are noteworthy. In this context, the Korean war, the Turkish presence in Cyprus and the attempts to give the island to Greece, the social and economic problems experienced by the Turks living in the Soviet Union, and the ideology of communism were examined in detail. It has been recommended that in order to fight communism, it is necessary to adopt the ideas of the Turkish Nationalists Association. In this study, the associations regulations, circulars and publications were used as the main sources. Other works were also consulted when necessary. This study aims to contribute to the literature by providing an example of the organization of Turkish nationalism in Anatolia and the rise of nationalism in reaction.
