Özet:

Objective: A significant portion 29.2% of the adult population is addicted to smoking in our country. Smoking cessation programmes are important in the fight against smoking. Although the majority of smokers would like to quit smoking, only a small part of them are able to achieve this. In this study, the influencing factors and the long-term 24 months success of quitting at a smoking cessation centre SCC was evaluated.Material and Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study. The study population consisted of applicants to this center within one year 980 persons . The long-term 24 months after the application success in quitting was determined. The influencing factors were investigated. Results: The mean age of the applicants was 41.3 years and the age of starting smoking was 16.4 years. The average cigarette consumption was 26.6 packs/year. 3.6% of the applicants had applied to the SCC at a doctor's recommendation. The rate of coming for follow-up was very low 18.5% .Smoking cessation success was determined as 21.5%. Also, 25.5% of the applicants declared that they quit smoking and then restarted. Analyses demonstrated that two main factors were influential on the success. The success rate was higher in smokers aged 50+ 1.6 times and those with low nicotine dependence 2.2 times . The therapeutics used for treatment, the treatment cost and the specialization of the doctor had no significant effect on the success. Conclusion: The long-term smoking cessation success rate was found to be 21.5%. The success rate was higher in smokers aged 50+ and those with low nicotine dependence. These target groups may be the priority. In our country, where nine physician visits are performed per person per year, the rate of referring smokers to SCCs by physicians is quite low 3.6% . It was also important that the follow-up rate of the patients was rather low. The rate of restarting after quitting was high. Increased follow-up may decrease restarting and may increase the success of smoking cessation.

Başvuranların %25,5’i bırakmış ancak sonradan tekrar başlamıştır. Sigarayı bırakma iki grupta anlamlı düzeyde yüksek bulunmuştur. Nikotin bağımlığı düşük olanlarda 2,2 kat ve 50 yaş üzeri kişilerde 1,6 kat bırakma daha fazladır p.
