Özet:

Abstract: This article examines the problem of sensation and perception in Presocratic philosophy. Presocratic philosophers are considered the founders of philosophy. These philosophers realized the problems of philosophy for the first time and tried to solve these problems in a rational way. These philosophers, who discovered that sensation and perception are fundamental in relations with reality, argued that knowledge also begins with sensation. Therefore, Presocratic philosophers' thoughts on sensation and perception played an important role in knowledge and the emergence of philosophy. The relationship that human has with reality is basically a relationship of sensation and perception. Because human knowledge emerges based on sensation and perception. Knowledge is the result of an activity that depends on the subject on one side and the object on the other. On the object-facing side of knowledge are sensation and perception. Sensation and perception are the window of man to the external world. Sensation can be defined as the direct mental product that occurs as a result of the transmission of an external stimulus that activates the sense organs to the nerve center through the nerves. The process of interpreting sensations and making them meaningful is called perception.
