Özet:

Ceramic decorations, which are Anatolias cultural heritage, have been constantly changing and evolving, incorporating a wide range of different motifs from prehistoric times to the present day. Decorations made on ceramics by scraping and slipping in the Neolithic Age were initially made in the form of simple lines, and gradually developed into a rich source involving plant motifs, geometric motifs, writings and writing imitations, figurative motifs and symbolic motifs. The geometric shapes and motifs commonly found on ceramics, such as straight and wavy lines, semicircles, triangles, squares, circle networks, checkers, abstract and symbolic motifs, reveal information about Anatolias culture, historical origins, and interaction with neighboring civilizations In the research, a literature review was conducted on the origin of the spiralspiral motif, one of the oldest geometric shapes, the symbolic meanings of the motif were examined, and examples of the use of this motif in Anatolian ceramics were analyzed. In addition, the decorative features of spiral motifs on ceramic works were discussed visually and symbolically, and an underglaze-decorated ceramic study was carried out as an application. This study includes a theoretical examination and a practical application.
