Özet:

While the world is witnessing changes in every aspect, cities have been one of the elements most affected by these changes. In parallel with these changes, peoples daily life practices also change, and this interaction between city and people affects urban spaces. While change occurs rapidly, urban spaces sometimes cannot keep up with this change and are interrupted. Thus, urban spaces lose their effectiveness, are excluded and forgotten over time. This article has deciphered the spaces created after planning with the definitions determined by the literature review and draws attention to the potential of these areas. The aim of this article is to draw attention to the potential of the leftover spaces and it is argued that the practices that individuals consciously or unconsciously create on urban spaces can be a guide for the solution for these spaces. The theoretical framework was structured by deciphering the leftover spaces and establishing the difference or similarity with each other. The modernist, post-modernist and information age, which causes constant change will be explained and discussed how the previously acquired concepts encountered the transformation in these periods. Examples from different countries were selected to prove the temporality and their alternatives in functions.
