Özet:

Burana Tower Burana Minaret, located in the city of Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan, is situated on the Silk Road at the foothills of the Tian Shan Mountains. This historical city, formerly known as Balasagun, was the capital of the Karakhanid State, the first Turkish state to accept Islam. Originally built as a watchtower, Burana Tower was later used as a minaret after the Karakhanids converted to Islam. For this reason, it is also referred to as The First Minaret of the Turks. This city, which played a significant role in the acceptance of Islam among Turks, is an important stop for religious tourism. In 2014, UNESCO added Burana Tower to the World Heritage List. This study aims to explore what can be done to enhance the tourism potential and cultural appeal of Burana Tower and to increase visitor numbers and its promotion as a tourist attraction. By conducting a SWOT analysis within the scope of cultural and faith tourism, the study emphasizes the importance of Burana Tower for the countrys tourism. The findings highlight several strengths and opportunities, such as the regions rich historical, cultural, and religious past, the well-preserved historical structure of the tower, and its significant role in the Islamic history of the Turks, making it highly attractive for cultural and faith tourism. However, there are also weaknesses and potential threats, including insufficient tourism investments in the area, inadequate infrastructure and facilities, low recognition of the region as a tourist destination, and insufficient promotional and marketing efforts.
