Özet:

Urban open green spaces have been an indicator of modernization in urban planning, especially in the period after the proclamation of the Republic. With the wrong immigration policies, rapid urbanization and increasing population density after the Early Republic period, the biggest expectation of people as planning from the cities they live in is urban open green spaces that provide the opportunity to be in touch with nature. Parks, which have become a necessity of the modern age among the reinforced concrete structures that started to increase in cities with the proclamation of the Republic, started to become widespread in all cities of Anatolia, especially in metropolitan cities such as Istanbul and Ankara in our country. The city of Van, has made progress in the use and service of open green spaces and parks with the proclamation of the Republic. The construction of the park, which started with the Republican period, has continued until today, according to the needs of the people in the city and the planning conditions in the city. In this direction, the history of open green spaces and parks in the city of Van from past to present has been researched and the current status of the first established parks has been examined.
