Özet:

In the last decade, rapid developments in technology and informatics and changing business mentalities have forced the maritime and logistics industry to change, and the intense competition has increased even more. With the current pandemic, the importance of transportation and logistics capabilities in global trade has been demonstrated again. Employing qualified personnel has become extremely important for businesses in the sector. Bringing successful employees to the sector goes through correct and effective training. In this study, maritime and port management associate degree programs, which provide the most semi-skilled worker resources for the maritime and logistics sector in Turkey, are discussed. Maritime and port management associate degree programs and courses in 21 universities in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus were analyzed by content analysis method. As a result of the research, it has been determined that there is a general harmony in terms of the courses among the maritime and port management programs in 21 universities and that most of the courses that meet the needs of the sector are compulsory in the programs. The courses given on foreign language education are sufficient. However, as an important deficiency, foreign trade transactions and freight forwarder management courses, which are essential for the sector, are only in a few programs.
