Özet:

Mecca and Medina are two holy cities for the Muslims. Because the Kaaba is in Mecca and the Prophets tomb is in Medina. Today, the memories of the Prophet and his companions are still preserved in these cities. For this reason, throughout history, The Muslims have allocated a significant portion of their income for the maintenance, sustenance and construction of these two cities. In time, the aid sent to Mecca and Medina became an institutional tradition and many waqfs were established for this purpose. These kinds of waqfs were established for Mecca and Medina in the Ottoman State and were briefly called the Haremeyn Waqfs. The waqfs for Haremeyn were especially established by members of the Ottoman dynasty and state officials, and also by the Ottoman subjects. There venues obtained from the Ottoman Haremeyn waqfs were sent to the cities of Mecca and Medina in caravans called the Surre Alayları. It is known that some revenues in various cities of the Ottomans were allocated for the Haremeyn. One of the Haremeyn waqfs is Balıkhisarı in the Akyurt district of Ankara today, and the agricultural revenues of Balıkhisarı were endowed for Mecca and Medina. The bridge built by Murad II in Balıkhisarı village in Ankara and the revenues of the villages administratively connected to Balıkhisarı were endowed for the Haremeyn. In this study, the contributions of the region, which is still known as Balıkhisarı today, to the Haremeyn waqfs during the Ottoman period are analysed within the framework of the examination of various archival documents.
