Özet:

The word post-truth, which has long historical roots but was chosen as the word of the year by the Oxford Dictionary in 2016, was primarily examined through the philosophical and semantic foundations of concepts such as truth, real and true. This analysis has been made in the light of the norms of the modern and post-modern era, starting from ancient Greece. Especially in the post-modern period, the word is associated with the deep break that emerged under the influence of the views that truth does not exist and is relative. Because this breaking resulted in the post-truth concept shaking the accuracy of the information and making it ambiguous. Another factor in the mentioned break is social media. Information shared in social media messages is now used by traditional media as a news source. The use of anonymous information circulated in social media as a news source in traditional media has paved the way for reporting without confirming the accuracy of the information. In addition, the content that contains fake, lies and conspiracy theories in anonymous information reaches wider audiences due to the interactive nature of social media, causing accuracy to become insignificant. The word post-truth has a direct relationship with both traditional and new media ethics because of the trivialization of truth and all the factors that dull the hope of achieving it. In addition, the concept of post-truth in academic studies should be examined by considering the language and meaning structure specific to the geographical culture in which it is lived. In the light of all these reasons, the concept of post-truth which has Turkish equivalents such as post-hakikat, hakikat-sonrası, hakikat-ötesi as doğruluk-ötesi it would be more appropriate to consider has concluded that in academic research. Another reason is to provide conceptual integrity in Turkish academic studies on the concept.
