Özet:

The Seljuk Empire had a profound and extensive impact on the political, intellectual, and cultural spheres of subsequent periods. The state institutions, madrasas, and sectarian understandings established during the Seljuk era formed the foundation for later developments and played a guiding and decisive role in shaping Sufi movements. Before assuming leadership of the Islamic world, this period was characterized by political, sectarian, and intellectual fragmentation, with certain base interpretations in the field of Sufism that were inconsistent with the fundamental principles of Islam drawing significant attention. The critique and rejection of such interpretations were made possible through the efforts of sincere and knowledgeable scholars, whose activities were strongly supported by the Seljuk political authority. However, during the Great Seljuk period, the jihad approach based on the Hanafi school led to struggles among some scholars and Sufis, causing many of them to migrate to Anatolian lands. Mystics, scholars, and members of various Sufi orders, who played a critical role in the Islamization of Anatolia, exerted profound influence on both social and political life during the Seljuk era. The publics devotion to these figures enhanced their societal influence, and the Seljuk sultans capitalized on this impact by supporting Sufi circles. With the Mongol invasions, Sufi leaders, sheikhs, and scholars who migrated to Anatolia continued their activities under Seljuk patronage. Through the establishment of institutions such as tekkes, zawiyas, madrasas, and mosques, they expanded their influence further. During this process, the Seljuk sultans worked closely with Sufi communities to ensure the spiritual cohesion of society and maintain the stability of the state.
